Ahoy there. If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you know I’m known to go AWOL. And that’s happened here again.
My sincere apologies, I got swept away in vacation and amazing work in the Middle East.
I’m posting this from the lounge in Dubai, on the way back home to Sydney, and I can’t help but be grateful for the opportunity to live and work and travel the way I do.
So this is not a regular post, there’s nothing to learn here. It’s just me reminiscing while I wait for my flight.
I spent 10 days in the Phillipines diving and canyoning and sailing and generally enjoying the switch off with a great mate as we both celebrated out birthdays.
I then flew across to Beirut to facilitate some training for a team out of the UN office there. It was a great group of people, we stayed up in a mountain resort out of Beirut and I even got to climb Mt Lebanon after training one day.
Following the training I flew down to Cairo and finally got to cross the Pyramids off my bucket list.
It’s so magical to see them for real. We went to the Egyptian Museum and I was transported to another time learning about how this ancient civilisation lived.
The best part was wondering around the old mosque’s and markets in the walled city and feeling like I was on the set of an Indiana Jones movie.
Back home for a week then off to Europe again, so you can expect some meatier posts in the meantime, if I don’t go AWOL again 🙂
cheers,
Pete
