Hey folks, the adventure continues. Just got back from a great gig in Nairobi for the UN. To be able to fly in early and do safari is one of the cool things working overseas.
Safari was a few hours drive outside Nairobi. 2 hours of that was over pot-holes and dirt track.
This made it feel even more like leaving behind civilisation.
Having no status updates, emails and phone noise is quiet the calming thing; highly recommended, and much easier when the electronic seduction is removed altogether.
In an area the size of a few city blocks I saw elephants, lions, ostrich, hippo’s, buffalo, gazelle, cheetahs, baboons, giraffe, zebra, vultures. I was in the animals kingdom now.
And they all seemed to mill around within 90 minutes drive of the safari camp. I wondered if they plotted to make it easy for us to see them.
Also met with a tribe of Maasai warriors. I danced with them, I dined in their homes.
These folks know how to live off the land and can survive surrounded by killing machines like lions and cheetahs.
They even have a plant that cures Malaria (and the leaves act as a bug repellant).
Back in Nairobi the confernce was held in a groovy hotel with amazing African art all round.
